Begegnung mit Gästen aus Bolivien

On the 22nd of April, our Geography group had a very interesting workshop organized by “Das Welthaus Österreich “. Two women from Bolivia and some interpreters spent two lessons with us.

The guests told us about life in Bolivia and explained how people live in their villages. The women also spoke about the river Pilcomayo that flows through their region and why it is so important for the community. Upstream, the river serves as a source of fresh water; further downstream, it becomes heavily polluted due to the extraction of valuable raw materials. This has become a challenge for the indigenous people living there.

We also learned a lot about their culture, traditions, and everyday life.

Also, some dolls and other handmade objects were shown to us. The two women further talked about the fact that many children must work there. We saw many pictures of the villages and the indigenous people who live there. Based on these pictures, we could get a good idea of what it looks like there. Thanks to the interpreters, we understood everything very well, and it was very interesting to watch them translate in real time. I really enjoyed the workshop.
